Alfred Algimantas Orentas

Alfred Algimantas Orentas, of Indian Land, SC, age 79, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at the Carolinas Medical Center. He was born April 26,1938 in Dainiai,  Lithuania, a son of the late Augustas Orentas and Martha Chesna Orentas.  He is the husband of Daiva Rutka Orentas. Mr. Orentas immigrated to Chicago in 1949 and earned his MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois.  Mr. Orentas enjoyed gardening, bird watching, playing tennis, and listening to music.  He loved life and socializing with friends and family.  He was fond of family games, and was the first to interpret the rules, and then to create house rules.  Mr. Orentas was a Gideon and life-long Lutheran.  He was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Charlotte, NC and was very involved in Campus Ministry.  

Mr. Orentas is survived by his wife, Daiva Rutka Orentas of Indian Land, SC; a son, Dr. Rimas Orentas and his wife, Dr. Pamela Collins of Seattle, WA, and two daughters, Dr. Diana Orentas Lein and her husband, Dr. Edward Lein of Mercer Island, WA, and Mrs. Ingrid Lulich and her husband, Mr. Lawrence Lulich of Riverside, IL. He was the proud grandfather of five grandsons (which he bragged was a complete basketball team); Joseph Orentas, Paul Orentas, Jack Lulich, Benjamin Lulich, and Christopher Lein.  He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Zenta Berghofer and her husband, Mr. Robert Berghofer, of Las Vegas, NV, and Ms. Ingrid Orentas of Oak Lawn, IL.  Mr. Orentas was a widower to Anita Medeishis Orentas.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, January 20, 2018, 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium, 7861 S. 88th Avenue, Justice, Illinois.  Services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at Bethania Cemetery, Justice, Illinois.

Ingrid and family, May you ever remember his warm smile and hearty laughs and nice hugs. Gone from here but forever in your heart.
